Solar COC in Gauteng

You need a Solar COC when a new solar or inverter system is installed, when batteries are added later, and when you sell a property that already has solar. If the house already has a valid Electrical COC, the solar work is usually covered by a supplementary certificate. If there is no valid house COC, the whole installation must be certified, including the solar.

The Solar COC covers the electrical side of the system that is fixed to the property, including:

• Inverter connection to the distribution board
• AC and DC isolation where fitted
• Protection devices and earthing
• Wiring between the inverter, DB and related equipment
• Labelling that forms part of the electrical installation

We tell you on site if something must be corrected before the certificate can be issued. Municipal SSEG registration, if your council requires it, is separate from the Electrical COC.

A house Electrical COC is the certificate needed for a normal property transfer. A Solar COC is the certificate for the solar, inverter or battery work added to that installation. You may need both. See our Electrical COC service areas for house-sale certificates.
